WILLS FOR HEROS ROUND 2

Thursday, February 9, 2012
-
ROUND 2 of the DELAWARE COUNTY FALLEN FIREFIGHTER & EMS MEMORIAL COMMITTEE & THE WILLS FOR HEROES!

May 5th 2012 - Cardington Fire Company, 350 Harrison Ave Upper Darby, PA 19082

For some time now, the members of the Delaware County Fallen Firefighter & EMS Memorial Committee have been working on bringing special projects and training to each and every EMS and Fire Company Member in Delaware County.  This is the first one this year, and the BEST part is that it is FREE!  That’s right, FREE.  FREE, FREE, FREE.  There is no catch, there is no cost!  The Committee has done the research and we going to cover the operational costs.

The Delaware County Fallen Firefighter & EMS Memorial Committee (that’s us), has joined forces with the group “Wills for Heroes” (and the Heroes are you!)  Attached to this email is the form letter that can be printed and posted at your stations, Fire, EMS, and Police, and you can feel free to pass this email onto whomever you do not see already on the list.

What Wills for Heroes is and how it works briefly is that a team of Legal Professionals work as a group and will come to pre-designated locations and work all day in a formatted schedule that is worked out in advance.  What is provided is just like the name says “Wills”, and also Health and Financial Power of Attorney’s!
We are going to make several dates and locations available to you, you need to read the attached letter, and go on-line and fill out the information on the “Wills for Heroes” web site and get scheduled.  It will tell you what you need to bring, and when to show up.  You and your significant other (if you have one) just need to show up and the Legal Team with work with you and in about an hour per person, you will be leaving with your New Legal Documents in hand!

The First event was held Feb 4th at Manoa’s Fire Company and was a Great Success!
This is the Second and will be at the Cardington Stonehurst Fire Company, in Upper Darby on May 5th 2012.
Look for dates at the Green Ridge Fire Company in Aston, and Garrettford Drexel Hill in Upper Darby soon.

In partnership with the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and with sponsorship by Ballard

Spahr LLP and the Delaware County Fallen Firefighters & EMS Memorial Committee, we are proud to bring

the

Wills, Health Care and Financial Powers of Attorney to first responders and their spouses/partners.

If you die without a Will, Pennsylvania’s intestate laws will determine who will receive your property.

Undoubtedly, your loved ones’ grief will be overwhelming; a clear expression of your intent, desires, and

wishes may help ease some of this inevitable burden. While nobody likes to think about an untimely death, it is

best that you express your wishes through a written document. For your family’s peace of mind, please

consider this invaluable opportunity, offered completely free to you and your spouse/partner.

MEMORIAL SERVICE REMEMBERS 2 OF OUR OWN ON SEPTEMBER 11TH 2010
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
-
During the annual September 11th Memorial Service the Delco Fallen Fire and EMS Memorial Committee took time to remember 2 members who served Delaware County's Emergency Services and assisted with the building of our own Memorial.  For the Fire Service the Family of Ron Jones presented a wreath in memory of their husband and father who could be found many days at the construction site moving bricks, and arranging buses for our dedication. Presenting the EMS Service Memorial with a wreath in honor of her father was Allison Wolfarth daughter of Paramedic Chief Tom Wolfarth who was also a big help behind the scenes during our construction with gathering labor from his off shift workers and fundraising.  On behalf of the Delco Fallen Fire and EMS Memorial Committee we wish to thank the Jones and Wolfarth families for thier participation at our memorial service.  The Delco Fallen Law Enforcement presented a wreath to their Memorial with Upper Darby Police Department Officer Ray Blohm and Chester City Housing Police Officer Luis Rodriguez both of whom were shot in the line of duty this year and are still recovering from their injuries.  Delaware County Council presented the final wreath on behalf of the residents of Delaware County to the September 11th, 2001 Memorial.  Thanks to all who attended.
